What is the Employment Hero Platform

With Employment Hero you can use our paperless onboarding function to on-board new employees, provide online induction content, conduct VEVO (Visa Entitlement Verification Online) checks and undertake performance reviews. We also help you stay compliant with built in contracts, policies, and HR templates ready to go.

Where Should I Begin

Company Details

The Company Details section allows you to enter the following information:

  • Your business name.
  • Your business phone number.
  • The industry your business operates in.
  • The number of employees in your business.
  • You company logo.
    Helpful Tip: Employment Hero can display your Company Logo on all employment contracts, policies, and payslips your company issues.
  • Your payroll admins.
    Helpful Tip: To understand what actions will trigger an email to your nominated payroll admin, we recommended reading this article.

Company Address

The Company Address section allows you to add the address details for your organisation.

Employment Settings

The Employment Settings section allows you to enable additional features to suit your organisations need. These features include:

  • Two level leave requests.
    Helpful Tip: A two leave request is where an employee’s primary and secondary manager both manage an employee's submitted leave requests.
  • Configuring which of the 3 timesheet styles your business will use.
  • Enabling timesheets to go overnight.
    Helpful Tip: Enabling overnight timesheets allows your employees to submit timesheets that go over 24 hours.
  • The calendar type your business will use.
  • Show staff details.
    Helpful Tip: This option allows you to decide whether Employment Hero shows the contact details for employees and contractors within our mobile app directory.
  • Typical Work Day.
  • Automatically Pay your employee.
  • HR Manager Email.
    Helpful Tip: Employment Hero uses the provided HR Manager Email in the employee invitation emails our platform sends to new employees. This gives the new employees a point of contact within their organisation to contact regarding Employment Hero.
  • Worksafe Authority Email.
    Helpful Tip: Work Safe authorities can review all safety incident reports.Refer to the following articles on how the Safety Module works within Employment Hero:

Nominated SuperFund

You can use the Employment Hero Nominated SuperFund section to enter the details for your organisation's nominated Superannuation Fund. 

Entering your companies nominated Superannuation fund details here will give any new employees the option to choose your organisation’s default super fund. They will still have the option to either select yours or to enter their own chosen Superannuation Fund details.

Employing Entities

You can use the Employment Hero Employing Entities section to enter your organisation’s legal name that Employment Hero displays on your documents such as employment contracts and pay slips.

Teams

Teams are a useful way to group your employees if you have different policies, certifications or processes that might apply to only a certain group of employees, but not all employee's within your organisation.

Employees can be a part of multiple teams, for example, an individual could be a part of their work unit but could also be a part of a leadership team.

Locations

Locations are used to record the physical locations of your stores and/or organisations. Locations also allows you to create public holiday calendars for your organisation.

Important: Employees can only be part of one location.

Things I Should Consider

Company Details

An important aspect to consider when you are setting up your company details is who your Payroll Admin will be. This point of contact within your organisation will receive email notifications based upon the actions your employees have undertaken within Employment Hero. Employment Settings

Within Employment Settings there are 2 important aspects to consider, these are:

  1. Which timesheet type you want to use within your organisation.
  2. The employee email is used in the HR Manager Email field.

An important aspect to consider when you are setting up teams is how you plan on splitting your content up within the Employment Hero platform. 

Locations

An important aspect to consider when you are setting up locations is how you plan on splitting your public holidays up within the Employment Hero platform.

It is also important to consider if there are any regional public holidays that will affect your organisation.
