Getting Started Part 1: Business Setup

What is the Employment Hero Payroll?

Employment Hero Payroll integrates seamlessly with Employment Hero HR, sharing data from your HR platform to your payroll platform.

Our payroll platform has a built-in award interpretation that is constantly reviewed by our team of employment specialists to help you be more confident you’re paying your staff in line with the modern award.

After setting up Employment Hero Payroll, you’ll be able to process pay runs, run payroll reports, and submit your Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting to the Australian Tax Office (ATO).

Things I Should Consider

ATO Settings

When completing the 'I will be lodging reports to the ATO' field, it is to understand that this information will be used to populate the reporting details when lodging pay events to the ATO. There are three options available.

  • Employer.

    Important

This option should be selected if the employer is lodging all ATO submissions and there is only one business entity set up.

  • Registered TAX/BAS Agent.

    Important

This option should be selected if the employer is lodging all ATO submissions and there is more than one employing entity set up in the business.

  • Intermediary for multiple employing entities.

    Important

This option should be selected if an external TAX/BAS Agent will be lodging submissions to the ATO on behalf of the business, even if there is one or more employing entity set up in the business.

Employing Entities

If you pay employees from multiple ABN's, you may set up multiple employing entities. Separate details can be setup for each entity.
