Overview
Money is a feature within the Employment Hero app that enables employees to manage their money and benefits all in one place with no additional cost and allows you to control how and when you get paid and access exclusive benefits and discounts.
Costs may be associated with using the Hero Wallet Visa debit card, InstaPay and the Discounts store. Hero Wallet also includes a Visa debit card that is linked to your Hero Wallet digital transaction account, and can be used with Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Getting Started
- Search for Employment Hero app in your Play Store and tap on Install.
- Wait for the app to download and Tap on Open.
- Enter the same email address and password that is linked to your Employment Hero web-based profile.
- Tap Log In.
- Enter the authentication number sent to your mobile device, and tap Verify.
- Enter a passcode that you create.
- If you prefer, tap on Turn on Fingerprint Login, or tap on No thanks.
- Your details will automatically link from your web-based profile.
Open the App Store app on your mobile device and follow the below steps to download the Employment Hero app.
- Search for Employment Hero app and tap on Get.
- Once the app has download tap on Open.
- Enter the same email address and password that is linked to your Employment Hero web based profile.
- Tap Log In.
- Enter the authentication number that is sent to your mobile device, and tap Verify.
- Enter a passcode that you create, or turn on Face ID if you want when prompted.
- Tap Allow, if you consent to Employment Hero sending you notifications, or tap Not Allowed if you don't consent.
- If you prefer, tap on Turn on Fingerprint Login, or tap on No thanks.
- Your details will automatically link from your web-based profile.
- Open your Employment Hero app.
- Tap on the Money icon.
- Tap Wallet.
- Tap Set up now.
- If you are eligible and ready to set up your Hero Wallet account, tap Set up Hero Wallet.
Important
You need to be 16 years or older, an Australian citizen or resident, and you need a valid Australian driver’s licence or valid Australian passport to be eligible for a Hero Wallet. Expired driver's licences and passports cannot be used for Hero Wallet.
- Select if you have any tax obligations outside of Australia.
- Next, verify your identity. Choose Australian passport or Australian driver’s licence.
- Fill in your name as it appears on your passport or driver’s licence exactly, then tap Next.
Helpful Hint
It is important to fill in your name exactly as it appears on your identity document, including middle name, middle initial and matching upper case; otherwise the application will be rejected. Please see: Why was my Hero Wallet application unsuccessful?
- Add your mobile number, then tap Next.
- Fill in your address details exactly as they appear on your identity document, and select Next.

Helpful Hint
If your identity document shows an outdated address, add in the address details as per the document, as you will have the opportunity to update this later in the application process.
- Fill in your date of birth, then tap Next.
- Select the Terms and Conditions button to read.
- Once you’ve read and accepted the terms and conditions, tap Accept to continue.
- Tap Online verification terms to read, then tap Done. Once you’ve read and consented to the online verification terms, tick the consent box, then tap Submit.
- Hero Wallet will then verify your application, and if successful, will display this screen.
- If your application was unsuccessful, see Why was my Hero Wallet application unsuccessful? for troubleshooting. Click Next to add money to your Hero Wallet and set up Pay Split.
- Hero Wallet offers a Visa debit card that is linked to your Hero Wallet digital transaction account. You can also add your card to your mobile wallet via Google Pay or Apple Pay.
- First, set up a PIN for your Hero Wallet with a secure 4-digit number. You will need to add your new PIN, then repeat the PIN to confirm.
- Confirm the postal address where you would like your card sent. If you need to edit your mailing address, click the pencil icon to edit.
- Click Send my card.
- You will receive confirmation that your Hero Wallet Visa debit card has been issued.

Helpful Hint
Your Hero Wallet Visa debit card will take 7-10 business days to be delivered to your mailing address.
- Click Next to set up Apple Pay or Google Pay.
- Open your Employment Hero app.
- In Wallet, tap Card.
- Tap Activate card.
- Tap Confirm on the pop-up to confirm that you have received your physical card.
- Once activated, Card is enabled will display.
Important
It is important for security reasons that you have received your physical card in the mail before activating your card.
How to Set up Apple or Google Pay
- Add your Hero Wallet Visa debit card to Apple Pay or Google Pay in your Employment Hero app or on your device in your digital wallet section.
- To add your Hero Wallet Visa debit card to Apple Pay, click Add to Apple Wallet.
- Apple will send a verification code to your mobile number.
- Enter the Apple verification code.
- You will have the option to add your Hero Wallet Visa debit card to your iPhone or your Apple Watch.
- Read Apple Pay terms and conditions and click Agree.
- Once successful, Card Added will display. Click Next.
- You can set the Hero Wallet Visa debit card as your default card in Apple Pay. Choose Use as Default Card or Not Now.
- Once complete, Card added to your wallet will display.
- Click Next to open your Hero Wallet.
- Open the Google Wallet app .
- At the bottom, tap the Add to Wallet button.
- Tap the Payment Card button. Any cards you saved to your Google Account are shown.
- Tap the New Credit or Debit Card button.
- At the bottom, tap the Save button.
- Read the Issuer Terms and tap the Accept button.
- If you are asked to verify your payment method, choose an option from the list.
Open the Employment Hero app on your mobile device and follow the below steps to add your Hero Wallet Visa Debit card to Google Pay:
- Tap on Add card to Google Wallet.
- Tap Add to G Pay.
- Tap Add.
- Read the Issuer Terms and tap the Accept button
- If you have an Android device, ensure that you tap Turn on NFC.
- Tap Get Wallet.
- Tap Done.
Important
After you add a card, you might find a small transaction on your account from Google Wallet which checks that your card and account are valid. This transaction will soon disappear and does not affect your balance.
Send money from Hero Wallet
- Open the Employment Hero app.
- In Hero Wallet, tap Pay.
- Add the Account name, BSB and Account number, then tap Next.
- Add the Amount you want to send, the Description and the Reference, then Tap Next.
- Ensure that the details are correct, then tap Confirm.
- Payment sent will display to confirm that the payment was successful. Tap Done to return to Hero Wallet.
Access Pay Split, InstaPay and discount benefits through Hero Wallet
Important
InstaPay is not a credit product and does not incur interest or late fees. There is just one small fee of $4 per InstaPay transaction (from 17 October 2022).

- Login to the mobile application.
- Tap on Money icon.
- Tap on Income.
- Tap on InstaPay.
- Tap Get Instapay.
- Enter the amount you want, a minimum of $100, and tap Next.
Important:
InstaPay can be paid into any nominated account you have listed on your Employment Hero web based profile or directly into your Hero Wallet.
- Select the account you want your payment to be made to.
- Review your request and tap the Complete Request button.
- Tap the Got It button.
Helpful Hint
Your first InstaPay payment accessed through the Hero Wallet is free. After your first InstaPay transactions, each subsequent transaction will cost $3.00.
- Pay Split lets you choose how and where you would like to split your salary. Get paid into your Hero Wallet account or split your pay between Hero Wallet and your existing bank account.
- Open your Employment Hero app.
- Tap on Money.
- Tap on Income.
- Tap Pay Split.
- Tap Let’s split.
- Start by choosing how much of your pay you want to split. You can choose split by percentage or split by dollar amount.
- If you choose Split by percentage, you will be able to choose the percentage of your pay to split into your Hero Wallet.
- You will see a pop-up stating that Employment Hero will automatically update your payroll details. Tap Continue.
- Tap Done.
- Log into the mobile application.
- Tap on Money .
- Tap on Benefits.
- Tap on Discounts.
- Search through the product offerings and tap on the product you want to purchase. The discounts offered are shown in the prices.
- Tap the Buy Now button.
- Tap the Continue button.
- You can see your savings clearly displayed. Tap on Select Payment Method.
- Type in your credit or debit card details and tap on Continue.
- Review your order and then tap on Complete Order.
